Some Worlds Crumble
release date: October 6, 2021
background info…
The lyrics for Some Worlds Crumble sat in Marina’s notebook for nearly four years before the track you hear today was conceived. It all started when Marina went back to California to visit her family after living abroad for a few years. She was helping out with cleaning out the garage when she came across a box of her old things. Skinny jeans, jelly bracelets, Juicy Couture perfume samples, and more musings of a tween from the 2000s gave Marina the goosebumps as she rummaged through the cardboard labeled “Marina’s Stuff, PRIVATE.” But nothing in that box could invoke quite as many feelings as the fuzzy pink notebook tucked in between two Harry Potter books. As she flipped through the pages of her old diary her mind was transported back to her childhood, when her home life was most turbulent. Bullying at school and abusive step-parents tormented the young girl to the point of crippling depression. It was difficult to read such explicit descriptions of pain from the hand of an eight year old, a ten year old, then twelve… so difficult, in fact, that after finally putting the book down, Marina opened up her new songbook and wrote the lyrics to Some Worlds Crumble. Unlike her previous singles, Almond Eyes, IDK You, and Give it to me, Some Worlds Crumble is a venture into darker, more personal territory.
Over the years Marina and her producer IenEcho have worked together on countless musical projects. Most recently the duo spent the summer working with LeRa on her 2021 album, Bird’s Eye View. It’s these projects as well as their 7-year friendship which helped get Some Worlds Crumble its sound. When Marina came to IenEcho with the idea for the song, she had just a home made vocal demo pasted on top of a piano track that she recorded on Garageband. He helped take the track to the next level with modern cinematic sounds and an almost nostalgic piano melody.
As the finished song made its way to the ears of young video maker Radoslav Chovan, an idea started forming. Although the concept of the video went through many changes, in the end Laduda is pleased to have such an honest video to present to her supporters and beyond. Because the lyrics are short and simple and the inspiration of the song so heavy a topic, directing duo Noel Czuczor and the aforementioned Radoslav Chovan chose to present Marina’s music with a hazy and dramatic, almost Hollywood-like mood. Some Worlds Crumble is Czuczor’s first try at directing, after a skyrocketing career in acting. He recently celebrated the premiere of the film The Auschwitz Report (Správa) (Slovak Oscar candidate film directed by Peter Bebjak), where he starred as lead character Alfréd Wetzler “Freddy”. As far as Marina is concerned, he did a wonderful job alongside Radoslav Chovan. The shoot was pleasant and easygoing with a lot of openness and room for creativity. Noel even helped with set design.
Thanks to a collaboration with Slovak fashion designer, Pavol Dendis, and makeup artistry by social media influencer, Megan Bennet, Marina’s appearance gives the video another level of personality. This is Marina Laduda’s second collaboration with Megan Bennet, whom she met back in 2014 when the first and only season of the X-Factor took place. Over the years their relationship took many forms, beginning as minor celebrity and fan, to friendship, and now partners. Marina and Megan recently went to Berlin for About You fashion week, where Marina helped sew two blazers together to create Megan’s iconic morning look. Just three days later the duo was back in Prague to shoot Marina’s music video for the next release after Some Worlds Crumble.
Going forward Marina plans to release at least two more singles by the end of 2021, as well as another alliance with Czech producer Cut Dem. She’s open to collaborations and partnerships, as she’s been working on her career on her own and would love to expand her horizons.

lyrics:
When I was small I wrote in a diary
all of the things I felt, what was happening
Years later I discovered pain I’d forgotten
by reading words small girls need for nothing
Some worlds crumble every day
Memories built up and replayed
As time went by tears dried into melodies
In search of love I fell into catastrophe
Years later I discovered pain I’d forgotten
by reading words small girls need for nothing
Some worlds crumble every day
Some worlds crumble every day…
